Base Support
Innovative Surfaces’ table tops are lighter weight than real stone and functional for many bases. To maintain the manufacturer’s warranty, all table tops must be mounted and have adequate base support. Unless prior approval of a specific base is obtained from Innovative Surfaces in writing, the following guidelines for adequate base support must be met.

Center Support
All table tops thirty inches (30”) and larger need center support.

Overhang
No more than a 6”- 9” overhang is acceptable.

Inserts for Pilot Hole (provided)
1/4 - 20 Bolts (1/2” + base thickness)
27/64” Drill Bit with Depth Stop
Drill
1/4” Allen Wrench

Instructions
1. Align base and top to the desired position, usually centered. Find mounting holes on the base and mark the table top at these locations.

2. Drill a 27/64” pilot hole that is 1/2” deep at all points that you marked on the table top. A 27/64” drill bit MUST BE USED (If a smaller drill bit is used, the insert nut will not go into the drilled hole and if a larger drill bit is used, the insert nut will easily strip out). Be very careful not to go any deeper than 1/2”. It is highly recommended that you attach a depth stop to the drill bit to make sure that you do not drill completely through the front side of the table top.

3. If your base weighs over 30 lbs., it is recommended that you use eighty grit sandpaper to roughen up a three inch diameter area around the pilot holes. It is also recommended that a construction silicone be used, as an adhesive, to better secure the base. Apply silicone in the pilot hole before installing the insert nut and apply enough on the 3 inch sanded area to cover a 2 inch area that is centered around the insert nut.. Please ensure you install the insert nut and bolt before the silicone dries.

4. Next install the insert nut by using a 1/4” Allen wrench. Screw the insert nut into the pilot hole until the flange on the insert nut is flush with the bottom of the table. The insert nut should fit snug in the pilot hole but be sure that it is not over-tightened.

5. The most important part of installation is choosing the correct length of the 1/4 - 20 bolts. If the bolt is too long, you could easily go through the face of the table top even though the insert nut is in place. To determine the length of the bolt you need for your particular application, find the thickness of your table base at the point where the bolt will be put through the table base and into the insert nut. Carefully measure this part of the base and then add1/2” to this measurement. This will give you the length of the 1/4 – 20 bolts that you need to use. Always remember to use a bolt that is either the same length as the total measurement or smaller, never longer. Again, do not over tighten the bolt into the insert nut; just be sure it fits snugly.
