The concept of developing a line of table tops that have the look and feel of real stone and other natural elements came into existence at a small manufacturing company in Chandler, Arizona. It was up to the Director of Research and Development, Johnny Heatwole, to turn this idea into a reality. He spent about 4 months and $750,000 to research and test raw materials and create the manufacturing process that would provide a new age composite table top that was durable outdoors but had the look of real stone.

Shortly after this new product line entered the market, the investors decided to close the company. Johnny and the Materials Manager, Laurie Martin, were able to purchase the table top division. Thus, Innovative Surfaces, LLC emerged in 1995.

In 2004 Innovative Surfaces, LLC was purchased by Grimmer Enterprises Inc., dba: Innovative Surfaces. Grimmer Enterprises Inc. has an extensive background in molding and product distribution. Grimmer Enterprises Inc. will continue to provide the same quality of product and service that is associated with the Innovative Surfaces' name.

Currently, the Innovative Surfaces' team produces an average of 30,000 table tops a year and continually furthers its research and fine-tuning in all aspects of production and materials. They are the only one's in the industry able to provide unlimited custom capabilities.
